John Dunlop Memorial Award

Awarded by the Nova Scotia Criminal Justice Association


John Dunlop was Regional Supervisor with Nova Scotia Correctional Services. He passed away on June 17, 1977 at the age of 42. John is remembered for his active interest and dedication to young people, community programs and sports in the Halifax and Truro areas. He was also extremely active in the Atlantic Provinces Criminology and Corrections Association.

Since 1977, the APCCA, later the Nova Scotia Criminology and Corrections Association and most recently the Nova Scotia Criminal Justice Association, has honoured a member of the criminal justice system by presenting them with this Award in memory of John each year.

Criteria for the Award are:

• Must have worked five years or more in Nova Scotia;

• Been a working member of the criminal justice system for three
years or more;

• Worked over and above the duties of his/her job description; and

• Been involved in community activities with particular emphasis on youth.
